Acesulfame or Acetosulfam or Acesulfamum is a sulfamate ester, an organonitrogen heterocyclic compound, an oxacycle and an organic heteromonocyclic compound. It is a sweet item and its potassium salt is used as an artificial sweetener.

Acesulfame Potassium or Ace-K or Acesulfame K or Potassium Acesulfamate is up to 200 times sweeter than table sugar. The use of artificial sweeteners has been controversial given some of their potential health risks. But some of these sugar substitutes offer you a good way to cut back on the sweet stuff, and they have some health benefits, too. Acesulfame potassium is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as an alternative sweetener. It is heat stable, meaning that it stays sweet even when used at high temperatures during baking, making it suitable as a sugar substitute in baked goods.
