The Properties, Specifications, Monograph and Uses of Lamivudine:

Lamivudine or 3TC is a prescription antiviral medication primarily used to manage human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections. It belongs to a class of medications called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). Rather than acting as a absolute cure, lamivudine works by blocking the enzymes that these viruses need to replicate, effectively slowing down viral reproduction and reducing the overall viral load in the body. In medecine it is used for Combination Therapy for HIV-1, Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B (HBV), Management of HIV/HBV Co-Infection, etc.

Skin: Immediately flush skin with excess water for 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing.
Ingestion: Call Emergency Medical immediately. Rinse your mouth with cold water. Give the victim 1-2 cups of water or milk to drink. Induce vomiting immediately.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.

Section 5: Fire Fighting Measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemicals, or carbon dioxide. Avoid solid water jets as they can scatter fire.
Protective equipment and precautions for firefighters: Use water spray, foam, or dry chemicals to extinguish fire. Firefighters should wear full firefighting turn-out gear and respiratory protection. Cool container with water spray. Material is not sensitive to impact or static discharge.
Special hazards arising from the substance: Carbon oxides, Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Sulfur compounds, Fumes.
Special Information: In the event of a fire, wear full protective clothing and NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus with full face piece operated in the pressure demand or other positive pressure mode. At high temperatures under fire conditions, it may produce toxic or irritating fumes.
